This was a job to redesign all the HMI systems used across all of Marel Groups machinery all over the world.
As usual, a substantial user research was key to making a HMI every user of the machinery felt at home with.
The HMI itself was reduced to only what was absolutely necessary for the operator to do his or her job. For the different user types (operator, cleaning, maintenance, administrator etc), a different main color was used. The user then knew which color was his or hers, and this gave them the confidence they needed to operate the machinery without risk of error.
The screen interaction design was improved to a degree, that reduced the customers use of Marel’s support hotline significantly.
